Bible-pushing Christians open the door for Satanic activity books in Florida schools

Bible-pushing Christians open the door for Satanic activity books in Florida schools.

In a perfect world I would dearly love it if Christianity was taught in Public Schools, but whose? Jehovah’s Witnesses, LDS, Protestants, Catholic.. all believe that they are the truest form of Christianity. And because of the way our constitution is written we would not only have to make room for all brands of “Christianity” but we would have to make room for all other religions as well. I think a much better solution would be for the school system to hand out vouchers and let the parents of the kids choose. So the parents would be endorsing religion, and not the state. Even so our schools should start teaching philosophy again. Teach kids clear thinking and they will be able to figure out what is truth, and what is a lie much easier. Which is a much better method of education  teaching them what to think like they are doing now.

Is the name of God blasphemed because of you?

Romans 2:21-24 you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. 24 For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”

I would like to clarify first that I am not perfect myself, but I am striving to get better.
It saddens me to no end when I hear Christians breaking God’s law, and using cheap grace to excuse their sins! What is worse is that we represent Christ, when we are rude, judge hypocritically in front of of non-Christians we become part of the reason that they curse God. There was a preacher not to long ago that was really harsh on homosexuals, yes homosexuality is a sin, but so are a lot of things you probably did before you became saved, and some sins you are probably still committing from time to time. So when we judge we have to remember that we are not perfect either, and we are judging a creation of God. Kindness is still called for.  But what made it worse was this guy was paying another guy for sex. Now imagine being one of the people that this man judged finding out that he was a practicing homosexual as well!

There will be people blaspheming God no matter what, they will be doing it in Hell a million years from now, but lets do our best to make sure that they are not blaspheming because of us.

How Now Shall We Live? by Charles W. Colson , Nancy Pearcey and, Harold Fickett
Christianity is more then just an acknowledgement that Christ exist, it is more then a relationship with Christ.
It is a worldview that answers the fundamental questions of life that guide how we live. This is an awesome book, that was a little long for some it is well worth the read!

What is your Worldview, and why?

A worldview is like a set of glasses in which you see the world. For example the phrase “rose colored glasses” means that the person sees everything in the best way possible, or they have an optimistic worldview.

Everyone has a worldview, but they do not always realize it. Your worldview centers around four basic questions.

Origin – where did we come from and thus what are we?

Problem – what’s wrong with the world?

Solution – how is the problem fixed?

Purpose – why am I here?

So many things flow from the answers to these questions. For example, if we are created purposely by God in the image of God, our worth is considerably higher then it would be if we were the product of an accidental universe, at the end of a long line of mutants that were lucky enough to be fitter then the rest.

The unexamined life is not worth living.
Socrates, in Plato, Dialogues, Apology
Greek philosopher in Athens (469 BC – 399 BC)
Part of examining your life, is examining the way you live it. Your worldview will help you do that.

“Reason and faith therefore function in a complementary fashion. While reason in and of itself— apart from God’s special grace— cannot cause faith, the use of reason is normally a part of a person’s coming to faith and supports faith in innumerable ways. Faith is foundational to reason, and reason can evaluate or confirm faith.”

Compassion will cure more sins than condemnation.
Beecher, Willard

I have often written about judgement sometimes being necessary, but it is something that we must be very careful with.  You can judge someone without being mean. When we judge, we must not lose sight of the fact that we are sinners too! I am made ill by the nasty comments I often see by people claiming to be Christian.
I recently heard a story on the show “Gutsy Christianity” about a man who created a questionable piece of art. Christians from all over the area were protesting, send him death threats and one even came to the place it was being displayed with a tire iron and busted up the glass that protected the piece and ripped it up. Meantime a brand new Christian pastor was being pressured to make some comments about the “art”. Instead of flying off the handle he wrote a polite note to the artist asking him to interpret the piece for him.

It turned out that the piece wasn’t about Christianity in general, it was a statement on the sex scandle of the Catholic Church. This pastor and artist became friends.  The pastor asked the artist if he would create another piece depicting a more respected Jesus for this pastor’s church, and in the process of describing Jesus for the author he also shared the Gospel with the man. This artist hasn’t yet given his life to Christ, but he did present the Church with an awesome piece of art. Because of the kindness this pastor showed this man his outlook on Christianity is a lot more friendly then it was before, and multiple artist in his community are now Christians.

Hate chases people away from Christ. This man wanted nothing to do with a Christ that would endorse the kind of hate that was being aimed at him, by people claiming to be Christ representatives. But when faced with the Christ of compassion he became more compassionate, and so did many others.

Jesus isn’t just the God of love, he is the God of judgement as well. When we interact with the world we must do our best to be like him.
Judging when necessary, but NEVER overlook compassion.
