Acts 26:16-18 English Standard Version
16 But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, 17 delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—to whom I am sending you 18 to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
Those words were written to Saul who would become Paul. I however believe that they should be applied to all Christians. We are probably not all called to endure the same level of persicution that he endured, but we all are called to open the eyes of the people who are spiritually blind. It isn’t about liking the people he was to witness to, as a Jew by birth he would have been taught to hate the behavior of Gentiles, yet it was now his job to witness to them..
We too are to witness to others with all the love we can muster (praying beforehand helps in more ways then one).
Even if we can’t witness to them in person we can pray for them daily. I just recently heard a man say that his sister-in-law prayed for him for twenty years before he walked away from his sinful lifestyle, and became a Christian who is now a preacher. If someone you love has walked away from God, don’t give up on them. Pray for them daily for the rest of your life if that is what it takes.
