Deceitful, not so Christian teachings.

Dusty Bible

1 Timothy 4:1  Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, 2 through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.

One of the reasons I am always begging Christians to read their Bible more, not just the parts that some mere human tells you to read, but the parts that God told you to read (The entire Bible) is there are many people who call themselves Christians, some of these even call themselves pastors that are preaching things that go against God’s word.
Even the best preachers are just mere humans, and humans can make mistakes. If you are only reading the passages that your preacher reads, you are apt to fall into the same errors that he has.

Acts 17:11  (KJV) 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Pray for our leaders

3

I Timothy 2:1-4   First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 2 for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, 4  who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

It would be easy to rail against our leaders, instead of praying for them. They do not seem to be good people from where many of us sit. We must however remember that the leaders being spoken about were a pretty evil lot too. They crucified Jesus! You can’t get any more evil than that, but yet we are supposed to pray for them anyway. I am not a big fan of many politicians, but I must spend more time praying for them. I believe that you should too.

As Christians, we have a lot of questions that we don’t always know how to investigate on our own, and we’re grateful when somebody will come in and give us the quick answer. But if you’ve raised kids, you know that when your kids have a question and ask you to sort something out for them, they come away with one kind of knowledge. When you allow your kids to work through, and find, and research the answer for themselves, they come away with a completely different kind of understanding. I can remember when I first came to Christianity out of atheism, I really needed to examine the issues for myself. And let’s face it, there are lots of times when it’s not so much an understanding of the truth; it’s not so much that the truth is out there and I just can’t grasp it; it’s that I hold some type of prerequisite, presupposition, that prevents me from seeing the truth clearly. That’s why for me, as a new Christian, apologetics websites were just as important as the skeptic sites I had been visiting. I wanted to get some balance and some clear thinking on the issues we know are inherent to the Christian worldview. I found myself applying the same skepticism I had as a detective, and an atheist, to my own examination of Scripture. Here is my approach to answering some of my own questions about Christian doctrine, and Christian evidence. These are principles and tools that may help you sort out the truth for yourself. To help you remember, each of them start with the letter “D”. First, some qualities I think are important as a student of the Bible:
First, be Devoted.

Tennyson quote and hands icon on mausoleum wall
The second verse of the song Spirit Wind is my prayer for all who call themselves Christian.

A pastor stands before his congregation
Once a mighty army for the Lord
But now he stares into the lifeless eyes
Believers leading carnal lives
He wonders what they’re fighting for
But driven by a calling on his life
He spoke God’s word like he’d done a hundred times before
But this time he comes broken and weeping
With tears of a broken heart
And he cries out to the Lord

Oh Lord, send Your wind into this valley
And breathe the breath of life into their souls
And raise them again a mighty army
For soon these arisen warriors will battle again
For they have been filled with the Spirit Wind
Woah, woah, woah…

Holy Spirit, breathe on me
Breathe Your life in me

Oh Lord, send Your wind into this valley
And breathe the breath of life into our souls
And raise us again a mighty army
For soon these arisen warriors will battle again
For we have been filled with the Spirit Wind
Woah, woah, woah…

Oh Lord, we need You now
Breathe Your life into us
Lord, we need You now
Our churches and our families
Oh Lord, we need You now
Breathe life into this dry and weary land
Raise us up again
spirit wind

Spirit Wind Casting Crowns.
