Things that are pure and lovely

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

I have been a complainer for most of my life. While I have certainly had  more things to complain about then many, it hasn’t gotten me anywhere. Over the last year I have started to make an effort to be more positive, while positive thinking isn’t magical, it does help. Not only is my life better, but I feel like I have become more likeable.

Christians are often viewed as a bunch of complaining killjoys.
Just as you get tired of people who are always complaining, they get tired of us. While yes, there are times when we must speak out against the bad,
that isn’t what we should be about. We should be about the love of God, and helping people see him more clearly. Just as a good earthly father does more than setting rules, he loves us, has good times with us, and helps us… Our Heavenly Father wants those other things for us as well.
We as Christians are supposed to be a reflection of God to help non-Christians see him more clearly. Non-Christians already know about the rule setting God, they need a better view of why he sets those rules. It isn’t because he is a cosmic killjoy, it is because those rules set us on the path for a richer life.
