Romans 2:21-24 you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. 24 For, as it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
I would like to clarify first that I am not perfect myself, but I am striving to get better.
It saddens me to no end when I hear Christians breaking God’s law, and using cheap grace to excuse their sins! What is worse is that we represent Christ, when we are rude, judge hypocritically in front of of non-Christians we become part of the reason that they curse God. There was a preacher not to long ago that was really harsh on homosexuals, yes homosexuality is a sin, but so are a lot of things you probably did before you became saved, and some sins you are probably still committing from time to time. So when we judge we have to remember that we are not perfect either, and we are judging a creation of God. Kindness is still called for. But what made it worse was this guy was paying another guy for sex. Now imagine being one of the people that this man judged finding out that he was a practicing homosexual as well!
There will be people blaspheming God no matter what, they will be doing it in Hell a million years from now, but lets do our best to make sure that they are not blaspheming because of us.
How Now Shall We Live? by Charles W. Colson , Nancy Pearcey and, Harold Fickett
Christianity is more then just an acknowledgement that Christ exist, it is more then a relationship with Christ.
It is a worldview that answers the fundamental questions of life that guide how we live. This is an awesome book, that was a little long for some it is well worth the read!
