Test the Spirits

1 John 4:1 (ESV)

Beloved, do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Mark 13:5-6  Then Jesus began by telling them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and they will deceive many.

There are a lot of false teachers in the world today, people quoting verses so far out of context that they change the meaning of the scripture entirely, people who teach flat out lies, and people whose teachings are so mixed with hate that the truth becomes a lie.
There is only one remedy for this. You must become responsible for your own spiritual growth.  Your preachers and teachers can help you with this, but in the end, what we believe about God is our responsibility,  your preacher can’t love God for you, you must love God enough to make sure your beliefs about him are true. And the only way you can do that is to study the Bible for yourself.
