Do you read the Bible daily?

Acts 17:11

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

The Bible is very important in our walk with God. While going to church is very important I would have to say that the Bible is even more important than Church. The reason why I believe that is the world has a lot of different preachers out there, and for almost every doctrine out there that your preacher teaches their is another preacher teaching his  congregation a completely opposite doctrine. Two completely opposite doctrines can not be both true. We have one sure fire method of making sure our preachers are telling us what God wants us to hear, and that is by reading the Bible.  Fourteen thousand manuscripts of the Bible have been found, we are confident that the Bible we have today is the Bible of the first century! Only two short passages are in dispute and they don’t affect the doctrines of the Bible in any way.  It hasn’t changed.

There are some preachers out there who act as if you are spitting in God’s face if you question them, but clearly that is not what Luke thought. He considered those that searched the scriptures to test what he was saying as more noble then those who did not.

Paul also thought keeping true to what the Bible says was pretty important too.

Galatians 1:8 (ESV)

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.

And we can’t be sloppy with our studying either. It is quite possible to mislead a person into believing something that the God does not want you to believe   by only reading a verse here and there.  If some tries to teach you a new thing that you have never studied before, you MUST read the context of the scriptures provided! Just last night I heard of someone who was convinced to have sex with her step-father, because he read different verses out of context to her.  The scriptures he gave her could have been easily refuted if she had read the text surrounding the scriptures he gave her!  Please don’t let a wolf in sheep’s clothing tear apart your soul like this unfortunate girl did!  Study your Bible!

What I am reading
Choosing Your Faith: In a World of Spiritual Options
by Mark Mittelberg and Lee Strobel

Many of us believe in Christianity because our parents told us to, but were they right?
This book helps you navigate the maze of different religions, we should all research our faith to make sure it is factually true. If we don’t how are we to tell others that they should follow our faith, if the only reason we believe it, is that our parents told us to?
